Scars in Gold

Kealan Varek

Scars in Gold finds Kealan Varek confronting the parts of his past he once tried to hide. Inspired by the idea of repairing something broken without disguising where it fractured, the song uses warm fingerpicked guitar, Rhodes piano and restrained contemporary R&B production to explore a more mature definition of healing. Kealan doesn't pretend that painful experiences disappear or that every wound should be celebrated. Instead, he accepts that those experiences became part of the person he is today. Intimate, reflective and quietly uplifting, Scars in Gold carries one of the album's most important messages: being whole doesn't mean looking untouched.
