Your Side of the Bed

Kealan Varek

Your Side of the Bed captures heartbreak through the small things people leave behind. Built around an intimate guitar-harmonic melody, restrained contemporary production and Kealan Varek's clean, vulnerable vocal, the song follows the aftermath of a relationship through an untouched pillow, an unfinished book, a forgotten charger and the empty space beside him every night. Rather than treating healing as one dramatic breakthrough, Kealan gradually measures his recovery by something much smaller: how much of the bed he allows himself to occupy. Emotional without becoming melodramatic, Your Side of the Bed ends on its quietest and most important realization—one night, he finally sleeps a little closer to the middle.
