Higher Ground

Josiah Rivers

Higher Ground is Josiah Rivers' anthem of resilience, built on authentic roots reggae, deep soul and warm Gospel-inspired instrumentation. A distinctive Hammond organ melody, heavy one-drop rhythm and powerful bassline surround Josiah's rich vocal as he reflects honestly on failure, loss, mistakes and the difficult process of getting back up. Rather than promising an easy road, the song celebrates progress in its smallest forms—the decision to take one more step when standing still would be easier. Soulful, grounded and ultimately uplifting, Higher Ground carries one of the album's defining messages: you don't have to climb the whole mountain today—you just have to keep moving upward.
