Roots Run Deep

Josiah Rivers

Roots Run Deep brings Josiah Rivers back to the foundations of authentic roots reggae with one of the album's most personal statements. Driven by a massive melodic bassline, heavy one-drop rhythm, Hammond organ and a haunting melodica motif, the track explores ancestry, family, hardship and the values passed from one generation to another. Josiah reflects on the people whose sacrifices shaped his life and rejects the idea that money or status can replace identity. Earthy, hypnotic and deeply soulful, Roots Run Deep carries a simple message at its heart: to understand who you are, you have to remember where you began.
