Josiah Rivers - The Debut Album

Josiah Rivers

Josiah Rivers’ debut album is a 20-track journey through roots, love, freedom, struggle and belonging, built on the foundations of authentic reggae while pushing the sound into a modern global era. From the deep one-drop rhythms of “Island in My Blood” to the cinematic finale “Rivers Never Stop,” the album moves naturally between Roots Reggae, Lovers Rock, Dancehall, Reggae Soul and Dub, while introducing elements of Afro House, R&B, Trance and progressive electronic music. At its heart, this is an album about knowing where you come from while refusing to stand still. Songs like “Roots Run Deep,” “Where I Belong” and “Carry Me Home” explore family, identity and home, while “Sunshine on My Mind,” “Good Life” and “No Bad Days” capture the warmth, freedom and irresistible energy of island life. Elsewhere, “Kingston After Dark,” “Rum & Roses” and “Ocean Between Us” reveal a deeper, more intimate side of Josiah. The album’s more adventurous moments expand reggae beyond its traditional boundaries. “Fire by the Sea,” “One More Night in Jamaica” and “Golden Islands” fuse Caribbean rhythm with African percussion, electronic production and euphoric melodic releases without losing the bass, guitar and rhythmic foundations that define Josiah’s sound. The journey ultimately leads to “Rivers Never Stop” — a statement of purpose and the philosophy behind the artist himself: obstacles may change the course of a river, but they do not stop its movement. Twenty songs. One journey. Roots behind him, the world ahead. Rivers never stop.
