Rum & Roses

Josiah Rivers

Rum & Roses takes Josiah Rivers into a darker, more sophisticated late-night world, blending Lovers Rock with authentic reggae, Neo-Soul and smooth contemporary R&B. A seductive sliding bassline and smoky electric-piano motif surround Josiah's deep vocal as two guarded strangers meet with no intention of promising each other forever. Built around the contrast between rum's heat and a rose's softness, the song explores attraction between two people who have both learned to protect their hearts. Sensual, understated and rich with groove, Rum & Roses reveals Josiah's more mature romantic side—something bitter, something sweet, and just enough danger between the two.
